8pm - 2am: 2nd & 4th Fridays: Salsa Works at The Engine Shed

York Road, Wetherby (turn left 200 metres after bridge over A1), LS22 7SU

        8.30pm-9.30pm Improver/Intermediate class with special guest teachers

        8.30pm-9.30pm Beginner/Improver class with residents Alfredo & Christine.

      11.30pm-12am (aprox.) Show or animation, plus free-entry raffle

        9.30pm-2am Free style dancing to a wide variety of Salsa styles, with a little Bachata;

  Bachatango; Cha Cha; Merengue; & Kizomba. Alfredo & Caballero usually DJ in half hour spells

  with occasional guests. Check-out the 'Caballero' button, on the left, for a musical profile.

 

A buffet is provided & the fully inclusive cost for the evening is £10 per person, except for two live music nights per year, which are £15.

 

The Engine Shed was once exactly that! Much of the original building remains, including the huge arched doors through which engines were brought for cleaning and maintenance. The original owner was an old-time jive fanatic. Sadly he died early in 2009 but his son contiues where his dad left off.

 

It is now, quite simply, one of the Region's best venues, and is purpose built for dancing. It has a large, polished wooden floor, cubicle bench seating with tables to the sides, a stage at one end, and a bar at the other with further tables and chairs. An imaginative, surround balcony overlooks the main floor & includes an upper bar, and smaller dance area.

The venue has state-of-the-art sound & light; EC-standard air exchanges, with air conditioning; & big screen.

 

8pm - 2am: 1st Saturdays: K.I.S.S. A.S.S. at The Gallery

                    8pm - 12am Salsa Social: no classes, no buffet, no shows, no messing

                                                             just 4 hours of great music.         

                    12am - 2am R&B with resident club DJ.

 

  If you're fed-up with insipid DJ mixes & pop-end mush, and you want to dance to real Salsa in a

  real nightclub, this could be the event for you.

 

  Gareth Roberts (Encuentro Latino) & Caballero (Salsa York) play half hour sets.

  Gareth plays mostly classic & old school Salsa, & Caballero plays mostly contemporary Salsa.

  A little Bachata, Bachatango, Cha Cha, Merengue, & Kizomba is added for flavour.

 

The fully inclusive cost for the evening is £5 per person, £4 N.S.U.
