Do I need a Partner?
No, you don’t need one. We have plenty of single men and single women, as well as couples attending. Usually numbers are fairly well balanced and we have some ladies who like to lead, rather than follow. Like all good clubs, we teach in a circle and move ladies on frequently so that everyone gets to dance with everyone else.

What about relationships?
Yes, they do start at Salsa, but most people just come to dance and party. The atmosphere is so warm, friendly, and open, that occasional odd-balls (both male and female) simply don’t last for long! Salsa club is not remotely like
the mainstream meat- markets. If you get harassed, everybody
will quickly find out and put a stop to it!
Ladies can ask men to dance without it being automatically read as a ‘come-on’.
An invitation to dance is exactly that, and finishes
at the end of the tune.
Guys, the girls are way ahead of you! Have you got the bottle to
laugh at yourself when you mess-up, and the perseverance to learn the
steps & a few moves? If so, the world is your oyster! The girl’s are queuing up to be taken for a spin!

What should I wear?
Be comfortable, cool, and loose. Some like to get their glad rags on, others wear jeans. You can be as outrageous as you like, it’s all in the spirit of Salsa. Go on girls! Enjoy yourself! Get your dressing-up box out and find some purple!
A note of caution : Salsa can be very hot and sweaty. I always pack a towel and an extra shirt!
This doesn't really apply to beginners 'cos teaching
music is slower.

And Shoes?
One of the best dancers I know wears Doc Martins, but I don’t recommend it! Spins are easiest in a leather sole on a wooden floor. Ladies, you will be better balanced with some heel, but not too much, and preferably Cuban style under the centre of the heel, rather than the back.
Again, this is not important for beginners. If you’re interested in proper light-weight Salsa shoes.
We'll point you in the right direction.

What
if I miss a lesson?
Lessons are not part of a course and stand by themselves.
This is especially true if you're a beginner, 'cos
the same lessons are being taught over and over. Come when you can, and when you want to, and pick it up where you left off.
