Level 1
:
BEGINNERS
: approx. 0 to 12 weeks
Beginners learn:
to pick-out, and move to, the Salsa rhythm; to hear
the musical difference between beats ‘1’ & ‘5’; to
pick-up the basic footwork patterns and start
developing Salsa body-language; how to hold, and
move with, a partner; and how to develop tension and
connection. Men learn to give, and ladies learn to
follow, a simple lead. Learn simple turns, and
half-turns and start to use the foundation moves of
both Cuban, and Cross-Body-Lead, styles.
Am I ready to move-up?
Can you say ‘Yes’ to the following
statements?
I’ve been dancing for about 12 lessons. I’ve covered
most of the syllabus above. I am fairly confident
with the rhythm and not often on the wrong foot. I
used to think that the pace of normal Salsa music
was impossible, and I still think it’s usually too
fast. |
